The grass is always greener – Kunstquartier Bethanien Studio 1, Berlin
The group exhibition The grass is always greener brings together 31 positions from the three painting classes at the Art Academy of Mainz, which subject the medium of painting to a critical reassessment, focusing less on fulfilling qualitative norms and more on defining their own distinct positions.
Stars are meant to die, 2022, Sandstone, 86 x 56 x 9 cm
The work was made especially for Kunstquartier Bethanien Studio 1, which happens to be an old hospital chapel. The place, which basicly got white-cubed, and thus got robbed off its ornament, invoced the idea to play with a medium associated to the sacral space, hence the sandstone and reliefwork.
